“Sometimes supervisors think that everything’s fine- nobody’s bringing any problems to them. The little slogan, ‘No problem is a problem’- if people aren’t bringing issues, then they are not engaged. There’s always something to talk about in terms of reducing risks, it’s part of the role the supervisor to encourage people to speak up.” Dr. Peter Strahlendorf.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! As of the beginning of this year, you can all look forward to a monthly safety blog- by yours truly!

Safety, of course, plays a huge part in my life as Waymark’s Safety Officer. I’ve been lucky enough to hold this position for 5 years now and have learned a lot along the way. I will be sharing with all of you, all of the new knowledge as I receive it. Safety is an ongoing process and encompasses not only our working life but in our home life too.

Safety isn’t always as easy to understand as we would like, and is never simply black and white- there are a lot of grey areas. I will strive to make safety not only easier to understand for everyone, but I will try to have a little fun with it too!
