Leed

LEED™

LEED™ is a point-based rating system originally developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to provide a recognized standard for the construction industry to assess the environmental sustainability of building designs and adopted by the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC). Points are earned for building attributes considered environmentally beneficial. For example, 5% of the building materials must be from salvaged materials to earn a point for the salvaged materials credit.

LEED™ allows 70 points covering six topic areas. Each topic area has a statement of associated goals. Most relevant for our business are the points awarded for Material Selection: minimizing construction waste, re-using existing building façade, and using recycled and salvaged materials. Waymark works with all customers to manage the refuse and recycling of materials from our projects in support of their project objectives. For more information on what Waymark can do to support your project, just ask us.

Asset Recovery Program

Our projects sometimes present opportunities to recover used materials that are in good condition – cabinets, doors and frames, ceiling tile, wall studs, and more. When this occurs, Waymark will remove these items from the project waste destined for landfill and place them with a partner organization that specializes in handling these used goods. For information on our recovery program or where to find used items, feel free to contact us.

Recycling Program

Having control over our own waste management process allows a unique opportunity for the Waymark Group to offer and deliver a comprehensive recycling program. We routinely sort metal, glass, wood, and asphalt into separate containers for efficient removal to an approved recycling facility. Our standard recycling programs offer the peace of mind that comes with knowing that any recyclable materials from your construction project will not be needlessly lost to our local landfills.

Some waste materials such as concrete, carpet and ceiling tile can, under certain conditions, be recycled. Ask us about the specific recycling needs of your project. We will be happy to plan a comprehensive recycling program for your project.
